Georgia GOP Convention Previewed a “Circular Firing Squad” of a Primary for U.S. Senate

June 12, 2025

Georgia Republicans are increasingly in a tough spot as they face a very messy and chaotic primary that could leave the eventual nominee badly bruised heading into the general election.

Just last weekend, Georgia Republicans held their convention where fears, concerns, and grudges rose to the top of discussion:

“Georgia’s Republican primary for Senate is just getting started, and already it looks like it’s going to be a chaotic, expensive mess, just like years before,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “Between rejecting the idea of a ‘consensus’ candidate, spending time hashing out petty grudges, and taking extreme positions that are highly unpopular with voters, Georgia Republicans are flailing before the race even heats up.”
