Georgia Democrats Congratulate Leader Gloria Butler on Retirement

February 28, 2024

Today, following Georgia Senate Minority Leader Gloria Butler’s announcement that she is retiring at the end of this year, DPG Chair Congresswoman Nikema Williams released the following statement:

“Georgia Democrats are deeply grateful to Senate Minority Leader Gloria Butler for her 26 years of distinguished service to our state under the Gold Dome, and we congratulate her on her retirement. Georgians in the 55th Senate District and across the state are better off today thanks to her relentless fight to expand access to health care, bolster public education, advocate for women and children, protect access to the ballot box, and ensure economic opportunity for all. Georgia Democrats will miss her leadership greatly, but we will continue to walk the path of progress she laid towards a healthier, fairer, more prosperous future for Georgia.”
