GOP U.S. Senate candidates Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, and Derek Dooley all oppose any extension of ACA tax credits

Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement as ACA open enrollment comes to an end and 1.4 million Georgians brace for their premiums to skyrocket:

“For months, Georgians have been fearing the end of open enrollment would come without any extension of crucial ACA tax credits that make it more affordable to keep themselves and their families healthy. Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, and Derek Dooley have consistently opposed extending these tax credits, and Georgians are now forced to pay skyrocketing premiums.

“All three GOP candidates for U.S. Senate have proven that they have no interest in making life more affordable for Georgians and helping them and their families over bending the knee to Donald Trump’s harmful MAGA agenda. Between now and November, we will work tirelessly to remind Georgians just how bad Carter, Collins, and Dooley are for Georgia and demonstrate why they cannot be trusted anywhere near the United States Senate.”

Georgians pay the price for Carter, Collins, and Dooley opposing ACA tax credit extension:

  • Since December, the state has already lost 190,000 ACA enrollees and is expected to keep growing as Georgians face extreme price hikes on their premiums.
  • Georgians like Himali Patel in Atlanta and Angelia Hoomes in Macon are already paying higher premiums that Carter, Collins, and Dooley support.
  • Data from KFF has found that ACA premiums could skyrocket by up to $885 per month in Buddy Carter’s district and $936 per month in Mike Collins’ district—the highest for any congressional district in the state.
