Today, Rick Jackson publicly announced that he will join President Trump for his event next Wednesday in Cobb County. This comes as Jackson has repeatedly pledged to be “Trump’s favorite governor” and that he will be “Trump with a Southern tone.”
In response, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland issued the following statement:
“Rick Jackson and Donald Trump are two peas in a pod. They’re wildly out-of-touch billionaires who push the same harmful policies that have jacked up our costs and stripped half a million Georgians of their healthcare. And at the same time that Trump has been attacking our elections, Jackson has been pushing his election denial lies every step of the way. Slick Rick must be so excited to prove yet again just how hard he’s working to be ‘Trump’s favorite governor’ — but Georgians will reject their harmful MAGA agenda come November.”
It should come as no surprise that Jackson would go out of his way to join Trump, given how closely he has aligned himself with the president throughout his campaign.
- Jackson has repeatedly told voters that he will be “Trump’s favorite governor” and that he will be “Trump with a Southern tone.”
- Jackson has made clear that he’ll govern “just like Trump,” and even gave Trump a $1 million donation in December 2025 to prove his loyalty to him.
- Just like Trump, Jackson has denied the results of the 2020 election, with the AJC writing that he has “echoed the president’s false claims of widespread election fraud” throughout his campaign.
- Jackson “said he couldn’t name a single White House policy he disagrees with,” according to the AJC. This comes as Jackson has admitted to supporting Trump’s Big Ugly Bill because it lowered his own taxes – and supporting Trump’s tariffs because he made money off them – even as Georgians struggled with rising costs as a result.
