After Donald Trump spoke in Cobb County today, DPG Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement:
“Today, Donald Trump tried and failed to do damage control in Georgia – where his reckless and self-serving policies have skyrocketed costs on everything from gas to groceries, forced thousands off their health insurance, and left families struggling to get by while Trump and his friends line their pockets. This is a disaster for Georgia Republican candidates at every level of the ticket, who will be forced to own the failed president’s corrupt and unpopular agenda every day between now and November.”
During the event, billionaire Rick Jackson stood side-by-side with President Trump and declared that he’s running to be “[Trump’s] favorite governor” – the clearest sign that he’ll always fight for Trump over Georgians, even as Trump attacks our elections and pushes policies that have stripped 500,000 Georgians of healthcare.
Trump also reiterated his “complete and total support” for Georgia GOP Lieutenant Governor nominee Greg Dolezal, GOP Secretary of State nominee Tim Fleming, and GOP Attorney General nominee Brian Strickland, all of whom attended the rally in a show of support for the failed president.
And while the rest of the Republican ticket joined Trump in Cobb County, the Washington Examiner reported that “Collins remaining in the capital provides Trump with cover from campaigning with the congressman who has been contending with antisemitic controversies.”
