Today, Attorney General Chris Carr released a new so-called anti-corruption plan. In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Carr said that what Burt Jones has done in public office to enrich himself should be a felony, and shared that the plan would address many of the self-enrichment practices he has repeatedly accused Jones of engaging in. In response, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland released the following statement:
“If you have any doubt how ugly the GOP primary for governor is, look no further than Chris Carr this morning saying Burt Jones’ record of enriching himself in public office should be a felony. It’s clear that Carr’s anti-corruption plan is nothing more than an anti-Burt Jones plan. The best way to clean up the State House is to kick Jones, Carr, and Raffensperger out of power and to elect a Democratic governor who is actually focused on lowering costs for Georgia families.”
