Today, in response to the news that Governor Brian Kemp is deploying Georgia National Guard troops to score political points with Donald Trump, DPG Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement:
“Brian Kemp’s decision to deploy Georgia National Guard soldiers to respond to a manufactured crisis is a reckless abuse of state resources and a transparent ploy to win favor with Donald Trump and his MAGA base. Our state’s National Guard members signed up to respond to natural disasters and defend America in war, not be used by Brian Kemp as props in his political theater. They, and the Georgians they bravely stepped up to serve, deserve far better than this misuse of their sacrifice.”
