Today, after Democrats prevented an extreme MAGA shutdown of the federal government, DPG Chair Congresswoman Nikema Williams released the following statement:
“This weekend, MAGA Republicans brought our government to the brink of a devastating shutdown in pursuit of their extreme agenda. Democrats didn’t let that happen. But Georgians will remember that extreme Republicans were prepared to shut down the government – leaving thousands without paychecks or essential services – in order to force draconian cuts to everything from Social Security to public education.
“While MAGA Republicans are clearly willing to use Georgians’ livelihoods as bargaining chips in their partisan games, Georgia Democrats will always step up and put people before politics.”
