Today, in response to Governor Brian Kemp’s final State of the State address, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement:

“After eight years of failed leadership by Brian Kemp and his fellow Georgia Republicans – including Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger – the American Dream is far less attainable in our state than when they took office. A dozen hospitals have closed their doors, nearly half a million Georgians lack health insurance because Republicans refuse to expand Medicaid, and costs are sky-high on everything from rent to power bills to groceries. At the same time, Kemp and his fellow Republicans have wholeheartedly supported Donald Trump’s devastating health care cuts that have shamefully made thousands of Georgians unable to afford insurance and skyrocketed premiums for 1.4 million more.

“The Republican candidates for Governor – Burt Jones, Chris Carr, and Brad Raffensperger – are offering another four years of even worse price hikes, health insurance cuts, and deference to Trump’s MAGA agenda that Georgians simply cannot afford.

“Georgians are sick and tired of failed Republican leadership, and that’s exactly why they showed up at the ballot box time and again last year to throw Republicans out of office. This November, Georgia voters will once again say enough to failed Republican leadership and elect a strong Democratic governor who will fight every day for them and their families.”
