Tonight, after Debra Shigley forced a runoff in the Senate District 21 Special Election, DPG Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement:

“Tonight, the Democratic Party of Georgia congratulates Debra Shigley on massively overperforming expectations and forcing a runoff in the District 21 Special Election. Debra was the top vote-getter in a deep-red district against a field of six Republicans – a testament not only to Debra’s strong leadership and bold vision for Senate District 21, but to the undeniable Democratic momentum building across our state. Now it’s time to carry this momentum forward into the runoff – where Debra will run through the tape and flip this seat blue – and onward into November 2025 and 2026, where we will continue electing Democrats from the State Senate to the U.S. Senate.”
