ATLANTA — Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams issued the following statement on U.S. District Judge Jones striking down Georgia’s unconstitutional abortion ban:
“In 2019, we saw the worst of Republican extremism when they attempted to end Georgians’ bodily autonomy and pass the abortion ban — today, we have justice. Thanks to advocates and activists across the state, our right to reproductive freedom is safe for another day.
Republicans have made it clear that they will always put extreme partisan interests over our fundamental freedoms — this fight is not over until we replace them in November. Georgia Democrats know that we must protect all Americans’ right to choose, and we will keep working until our elected leaders reflect our values and put our health first.”
