Every Georgia Republican running for governor has pledged to help carry out Trump’s toxic agenda in Georgia

Republican candidates for governor have been quick to throw their support behind every aspect of Donald Trump’s cost-raising, unpopular agenda – including supporting his devastating Big Billionaire Bill that has already closed down one rural hospital’s maternal care unit and is set to kick 750,000 Georgians off their health care while raising premiums for 1.4 million more. Now, as Trump and D.C. Republicans grind the government to a shutdown to force health care cuts that could skyrocket health care costs, voters deserve to know: do the GOP candidates for governor support Donald Trump shutting down the government to force health care cuts that could hike insurance costs for 1.4 million Georgians?

“Every Georgia Republican running for governor has pledged to help carry out Donald Trump’s toxic agenda here in our state – including vocally supporting the devastating Republican health care cuts in the Big Billionaire Bill that are causing this destructive shutdown in the first place. As Trump shuts down the government to force these cuts, Georgians need to know: will Burt Jones, Brad Raffensperger, and Chris Carr bend the knee to Trump again and support this shutdown?” said DPG Chair Charlie Bailey.

Georgia Republicans running for governor have rushed to align themselves with Trump’s agenda, including supporting the health care cuts in Trump’s Big Billionaire Bill:

  • Burt Jones touts his Trump endorsement and has enthusiastically supported Trump’s Big Billionaire Bill, calling it a “golden age” for Georgia.
  • Brad Raffensperger jumped into the governor’s race last month by “pledging to back Trump’s economic policies”.
  • Chris Carr cheered on the Big Billionaire Bill, calling it “common sense” even as it kicks 750,000 Georgians off health care and raises costs on thousands more.
