Today, upon the passing of Vice President Walter Mondale, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“Walter Mondale leaves an immeasurable legacy – as a Senator, Vice President, and Ambassador, he embodied the best of public service. Serving under President Jimmy Carter, he revolutionized the office of the vice president, then went on to become the first presidential candidate to ask a woman to join him on a major party ticket. He was a progressive ahead of his time, a man of deep integrity, a champion for the disenfranchised, and a true statesman in every sense of the word. I join all Georgians in sending my deepest condolences to Vice President Mondale’s family as we mourn this great loss.”
