Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on President Biden’s Historic Nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court

Today, following President Biden’s announcement that his Supreme Court nominee will be Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who will make history as the first Black woman nominated to the highest court in the nation, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“President Biden has made an extraordinary choice in selecting Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court. She is exceptionally well qualified and has the experience, character, integrity, and dedication to the Constitution and rule of law to serve on the nation’s highest court. It is long overdue that a Black woman serves on the Supreme Court, and it is a bipartisan tradition to ensure the richness of our country is represented in its leadership and on the highest court. The Senate should move forward with Judge Jackson’s historic nomination with a fair and timely hearing and confirmation.”
