ATLANTA — Today, following Senator Kelly Loeffler’s continued refusal to rule out attempts to overturn the result of the presidential election, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesman Alex Floyd released the following statement:
“Senator Kelly Loeffler is selfishly undermining faith in our democracy to score political points with President Trump. It’s past time for her to stand up to him and anyone who would dangerously cast doubt on our elections and accept the reality that Joe Biden won the state of Georgia and is the president-elect. On January 5th, voters will once again show Senator Loeffler just how strong our commitment to democracy is in the state of Georgia.”
For days, Senator Loeffler has “left open the possibility” that she would try and stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College vote even after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “warned” against challenging the results and Loeffler’s own political patron Governor Brian Kemp certified Biden’s win in Georgia. Instead, Loeffler has sided with “bigoted” conspiracy theorists like Marjorie Taylor Greene who’s claimed she “will not vote to certify a fraudulent stolen election.”
