ATLANTA — Today, after Jon Ossoff’s victory in the Georgia Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams issued the following statement:

“Jon Ossoff is a fighter against Washington corruption and a champion for hardworking Georgia families, and is going to be an excellent U.S. Senator. His work uncovering corruption and investigating war crimes demonstrates his commitment to fighting for justice, and his grassroots support across the state shows that he is ready to win this November.

Time and time again, Senator David Perdue has turned his back on Georgians and focused more on cozying up to his special interest allies than standing up for Georgia families. From his efforts to gut the health care law to his unseemly stock trading, Perdue’s record in Washington is full of examples of how he’s worked hard to help himself — not Georgia.

Our Party is stronger thanks to the campaigns each of our Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate ran, and we appreciate the spirited and respectful contest of ideas in this primary. Now, Georgia Democrats are ready to unite and take on Republicans up and down the ballot this November.”
