In recognition of the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams issued the following statement:

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the contributions of Georgia’s diverse Hispanic and Latino communities, with more than one million Latinos calling our state home. Their stories of courage and perseverance are woven into the fabric of our state, and into the spirit and prosperity of our country. As we celebrate Hispanic communities’ vibrant culture and history, Democrats remain committed this month and every month to working to address barriers to equity and opportunity that still exist today. We invite all Georgians to join us over the next month in honoring, celebrating, and uplifting Georgia’s Hispanic communities while continuing that crucial work – focusing on building an economy that works for everyone, fighting for One Georgia where we all can thrive, and building what Congressman John Lewis called the ‘beloved community.’”
