Today, following the election of Liz Shuler as president of AFL-CIO, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

As the first woman to hold this crucial role, I know Liz will build on the federation’s legacy of driving progressive change while charting a new, more inclusive, and more prosperous path for the national labor movement. Union labor is the lifeblood of our economy, supporting working families and communities all across Georgia.
