Today, amid news of bomb threats targeting several HBCUs in Georgia and throughout the country, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:
“The series of bomb threats targeting HBCUs in Georgia and throughout the country are despicable acts of racial terrorism, and must be called out as such. It is especially sickening that the perpetrators chose the first day of Black History Month to terrorize Black institutions. While it is a relief nobody was hurt, these violent threats demand a thorough and swift response. HBCUs are sacred institutions where students and staff deserve to feel safe, and we cannot tolerate racist violence or bigotry on campuses or anywhere in this country.”
