Today, ahead of the three-year anniversary of Donald Trump inciting a violent insurrection on the United States Capitol, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Congresswoman Nikema Williams released the following statement.

“Three years ago, Georgians watched as Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the United States Capitol in an attempt to hold on to power. Trump’s attacks on our democracy shook the foundations of our country on January 6, 2021, and the threat he poses has only grown more urgent since then as he continues to stoke conspiracies, spread election lies, and sow distrust in our democracy.

“January 6th reminded us that we cannot take our democracy for granted – we must elect leaders who will actively safeguard it, not undermine it. We can’t afford to let Donald Trump back into office. Georgia voters know how high the stakes are this November, and that’s why they’ll stand with President Biden, Vice President Harris and Democrats who are fighting to defend democracy for all of us.”
