As Georgia Democrats observe Juneteenth – designated a federal holiday by President Biden designated in 2021 – Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“On Juneteenth, we commemorate a historic milestone on the road to liberation for Black Americans – and recognize that while we have come so far, we have not reached the end of that road. While Juneteenth is a celebration, it’s also a time to rededicate ourselves to rooting out systemic racism and advancing equity – in access to the ballot box, education, health care, and all facets of the American Dream. Today and every day, Georgia Democrats will continue to fight for full freedom, opportunity, and justice for Black Americans and all people.”
