Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement in celebration of Black History Month:

“Black History Month is a time to celebrate Georgia’s rich and storied Black history, and to uplift the achievements of the innumerable Black leaders, innovators, and trailblazers who have shaped not just our history but our present and future too.

“Black History isn’t just something we celebrate once a year – we continue to write it every day with our votes and our policy decisions. We must use our voices and our votes to advance equity, spread opportunity, root out injustice, close the racial wealth gap, end health care disparities, and protect access to the ballot box. Black History Month may be one month on the calendar, but Georgia Democrats are committed to uplifting Black Georgians every single day of the year.”
