The Democratic Party of Georgia’s State Committee today voted to elect Harris County native Charlie Bailey as the next chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, who immediately assumes the duties of the position from Interim Chair Matthew Wilson.

“Republicans have controlled this state for 22 years, and in that time, 12 rural hospitals have closed and 18 more are at risk of closing because they refuse to expand Medicaid, and Democrats, Republicans and Independents have full cause to be angry about it,” said DPG Chair Charlie Bailey. “We’ll make sure all voters know that electing more Republicans in Georgia means more billionaire tax cuts, corporate giveaways, and a host of other distractions that will not reduce prices for Georgians, and we’re going to hold them accountable, re-elect Senator Jon Ossoff, and elect more Democrats up and down the ballot this year and beyond.”

Georgia’s Democratic State Committee also elected Daniel Coley as the party’s next treasurer.
