The already messy GOP U.S. Senate primary in Georgia is becoming more “splintered” by the day

MAGA warrior” Buddy Carter is turning up the heat in Georgia’s already bruising GOP U.S. Senate primary as he launches a new round of attacks against MAGA extremist Mike Collins and failed and fired former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley, with reports that he’s defining his Republican opponents as “two kids born on third base.”

On this morning’s Politically Georgia podcast episode, Carter took shots at Collins and Dooley’s “famous dads”:

  • “I don’t think anyone’s going to be voting for me because of who my daddy was, but my father worked shift work in a paper mill. He wasn’t a congressman, he wasn’t a football coach […]”

Carter’s latest round of hits against Collins and Dooley come as all three candidates spend time on the campaign trail taking jabs at one another:

  • Collins recently mocked Carter for investing $3 million dollars of his personal wealth on ads but failing to “move the needle.”
  • Dooley slammed Carter and Collins for being part of the “political establishment” and too focused on their “political career or a promotion.”
  • Brian Kemp, who recently endorsed Dooley, recently doubled down on his support for the failed and fired former Tennessee football coach by telling GOP donors that Carter and Collins aren’t “going to work” as candidates because both have “a congressional voting record”– implying that Trump’s harmful agenda will be a major liability in the general election.

“Georgia’s GOP U.S. Senate primary continues getting messier by the day as candidates focus all their efforts ripping each other apart instead of addressing the issues that Georgians care about most,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “With Carter, Collins, and Dooley always taking shots at one another, it’s clear the eventual nominee will be badly bruised and battered heading into a general election.”
