Carter, who sits on the committee tasked with cutting billions from Medicaid, says he’d “actually like to see more” than $880 billion in cuts

Today on the Atlanta-Journal Constitution’s Politically Georgia, “MAGA warrior” Buddy Carter doubled down on his support for a Trump-backed budget that could lead to deep cuts to Medicaid.

Carter repeated his commitment to $880 billion in cuts by the committee that oversees Medicaid – of which Carter is a member – and insisted that “we are not kicking anyone off of Medicaid,” despite the fact that health policy experts agree that cuts to the health programs are inevitable under the plan.

“Self-proclaimed ‘MAGA warrior’ Buddy Carter continues to double down on drastic cuts to Medicaid just to get a pat on the head from Donald Trump,” said DPG Chair Charlie Bailey. “Georgians need elected leaders who will do what’s best for Georgia, and that means standing up to any president when they are wrong – and putting Georgia seniors’ health care on the chopping block to fund additional tax cuts for their billionaire friends is wrong.”
