GOP Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger became the latest Republican to decline to support Mike Collins’ campaign for U.S. Senate following his latest misstep of being caught on video for supporting payouts to January 6th insurrectionists.
At an event Friday afternoon, Raffensperger was asked if he would endorse Mike Collins in the U.S. Senate race after endorsing GOP gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson in the gubernatorial race. Raffensperger refused.
Earlier this week, Rick Jackson refused to commit to campaign with Mike Collins between now and November when asked at a press conference.
These refusals to support Collins come amid increasing GOP concern about his “close ties” to white nationalism, the ongoing federal investigation into his illegal misuse of tax dollars, and his recently announced support for Donald Trump’s $1.8 billion insurrectionist fund also threatening to be a drag on Rick Jackson’s campaign.
“Republicans are declining to support and campaign with Mike Collins after he’s refused to take accountability for his numerous scandals,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “Collins has proven that he is completely unfit to be the next United States Senator from Georgia and even Republicans agree.”
