Today, “MAGA warrior” Rep. Buddy Carter and MAGA extremist Rep. Mike Collins cast their vote to make health care more expensive for 1.4 million Georgians by refusing to extend crucial ACA tax credits that help 95% of Georgians on ACA health care plans afford their premiums.
In Carter and Collins’ districts, their constituents face potential average ACA premium increases of 296% and 345%, respectively, for an average 60-year-old couple. The 345% increase in Collins’ district is the highest of any congressional district in the state.
The votes to inflict skyrocketing premiums on 1.4 million Georgians come after Republicans like Carter and Collins created the longest government shutdown in history and after Carter and Collins refused to show up on the job for over 50 days—inviting harsh backlash from within their own party and from their own constituents.
“Buddy Carter and Mike Collins have unsurprisingly once again proven that they are 100% committed to ripping away affordable health care and raising prices on Georgians,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “Georgians will remember exactly who it was that opposed extending crucial tax credits that made it easier for them to protect the health and wellbeing of them and their families.”
