Lawmaker Rob Teilhet (D) Proposes Ethics Reform

ATLANTA

State Rep. Rob Teilhet (tuh-LAY) said he will introduce legislation on Thursday that would put the state Ethics Commission in charge of conflict of interest complaints. Teilhet is running for state attorney general.

Currently, a state legislative ethics panel oversees conflict of interest complaints against lawmakers, allowing legislators to police themselves. The governor, House speaker and state Senate appoint members of the ethics commission.

Several ethics bills are moving this session following the scandal that brought down House Speaker Glenn Richardson.
