This year, Georgia Democrats honor Governor Carl Sanders and Mayor Shirley Franklin with our second annual Georgia Giants awards. The Democratic Party of Georgia will honor former Georgia Governor Carl Sanders and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin with the second-annual "Georgia Giants" award at the party's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.  The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta on May 12, 2009.

"We're pleased to bestow our annual 'Georgia Giants' award on Governor Sanders and Mayor Franklin," said Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Jane Kidd.  "They represent the type of leadership and compassion that all Georgians can be proud of."

 
Last year, the Democratic Party of Georgia honored Representative John Lewis and former Senator Max Cleland with the award.  The annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner is a long-standing party tradition.
